February 9, 2019, Astana. Today, the staff of the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan have extradited Marina Orumbayeva (Nevskaya) from the Dominican Republic to bring her to criminal liability.

Kazakhstani woman was wanted by the anti-corruption service of the East Kazakhstan region on suspicion of embezzling entrusted property with causing damage to the state in the amount of about 9 million tenge.

Orumbayeva was hiding from the prosecuting authority and was on the international wanted list.

Despite the absence of a bilateral agreement on extradition between Kazakhstan and the Dominican Republic, the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office is satisfied by the authorities of a foreign country on the principle of reciprocity.

Currently, the detainee is placed in the detention facility in Astana.
