December 5, 2018, Astana. Today, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Kozhamzharov had a bilateral meeting with the Prosecutor General of Tajikistan Yusuf Rahmon.
The heads of the supervisory agencies held a constructive discussion on combating transnational crime, extremism and terrorism.
Kairat Kozhamzharov emphasized the effectiveness of regional and international organizations that contribute to a comprehensive solution to the problems of extradition, delivery of criminals, return of stolen assets.
On these aspects, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are parties to the conventions on legal assistance and legal relations in civil, family and criminal cases, on the transfer of persons sentenced to deprivation of liberty to serve their sentences and on the protection of participants in criminal proceedings.
Kazakhstan joined to 16 international legal instruments in the field of counter-terrorism.
The parties highly appreciated the existing bilateral relations between the agencies, as well as the prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation in the criminal law sphere.
Within the framework of such cooperation, 5 persons have been extradited from Kazakhstan to Tajikistan this year.
In correctional institutions of our country 75 Tajik citizens are serving sentences, in places of detention of Tajikistan there are 8 Kazakhstanis.
Also, the Prosecutor General paid special attention to countering the activities of international terrorist organizations. The relevance of Tajikistan's experience was noted in this field.
For his part, Yusuf Rahmon expressed readiness to expand bilateral relations on all discussed issues.
We recall that within the framework of participation of representatives of supervisory agencies of foreign countries in the international conference "Strengthening of interregional cooperation and coordination of efforts in the fight against organized crime" in Astana, the Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan K. Kozhamzharov held a number of bilateral meetings.
